The Wilkes County Assessor’s Office is currently in the process of finishing our informal appeals review and continuing the Wilkes County Board of Equalization & Review hearings for the 2025 Wilkes County Revaluation.
- How long does the appeals period typically last during a revaluation year?
-
Depending on the volume of appeals received by the tax office, the appeals period could last until December 1st of the revaluation year. However, hearings can extend beyond this date.
- I’ve received my bill, but have not received my 2025 appeal decision notice yet, what happens next?
-
If you’ve received your 2025 property tax bill but not your Appeal Decision Notice, any changes made under appeal will apply retroactively to your 2025 property tax bill.
- I want to pay my bill to receive the discounted amount but my appeal hasn’t been decided yet, what do I do?
-
To receive the 1.5% discount offered by paying your 2025 tax bill by August 31st, your bill must be paid before September 1st, even if your 2025 tax appeal is still under review or Board of Equalization & Review hearing is after August 31st, 2025. Note: Your bill will not accrue interest until January 6th, 2026.
- I’ve already paid my 2025 tax bill, but I received a reduction in my real estate value after my appeal has been reviewed, what does that mean?
-
If you receive a reduction in real estate value under appeal, and you have already paid your 2025 Wilkes County Tax bill, then you will receive a refund for the overpayment.
- I’m not sure what to do next, how do I contact the Wilkes County Tax Office?
-
