  • Yes, all bites are required by law to be reported to Animal Control or the Department of Health. Dogs or cats not current on their Rabies vaccinations are also required by law to be quarantined for a period of 10 days at the Animal Shelter. If your animal is current on their rabies vaccination the animal may be quarantined at your home in an approved confined setting. Contact the Animal Shelter at 336-903-7688.

  • We hold stray dogs and cats for 72 hours (3 days) to see if anyone will claim them. There is no set time for the animals that are up for adoption. That time greatly depends on how much kennel space we have from day to day which is frequently limited.
