Wilkes County Health Department has recently submitted its “State of the County’s Health” (SOTCH) report to the state. A SOTCH report is prepared each year that a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is not conducted.
The SOTCH updates the community on progress made by community members towards health priority areas identified in the CHA. The priority health areas addressed and reported on in the SOTCH are substance abuse and mental health; obesity and chronic disease; and tobacco and smoking. The SOTCH Report highlights health priority areas, as well as progress and strategies to address these priorities. The SOTCH also identifies emerging issues, new initiatives for health, resources in Wilkes County that promote active living, health eating and tobacco-free living, and resources needed to support health in our community. Leading causes of death and hospitalization are also included. The Health Department makes the SOTCH and past community health reports available to community members through our website.
